Vscan has been developed by GE Healthcare. GE Healthcare provides transformational medical technologies and services that are shaping a new age of patient care.
Vscan is a pocket-sized visualization tool providing black and white anatomic and color-coded blood flow images in real time. It can easily be integrated into physical examinations allowing physicians to add a visual inspection into the body. The images are generated based on ultrasound technology. This affordable and portable device helps to empower clinicians across low and high-income countries and reduces the need for unnecessary referrals. It can speed up diagnosis for patients who do not have consistent access to these technologies. Vscan has most regularly been used in areas such as cardiology and maternal care.
The handheld device is complimented by Vscan gateway software which enables image management on a customers’ PC.
The Vscan has a variety of features that are aimed at improving clinical utility and workflow. These include distance measurement, Auto Optimize which enhances image quality, Auto Cycle which automatically selects a heart cycle for quick review and storage without electrodes, voice annotation and an intuitive user interface that can be easily controlled with one hand using a thumb.
